Zero Confidence in my Pulsar, advice welcome

Post by Julie1c » Wed Apr 10, 2019 7:06 pm

Ive had my 2017 1.5dci N-Tec Pulsar which has done 2,550 miles for 5 weeks. In that time its broken down & needed a new battery, spills diesel on the 3 occasions I've filled it ( at different garages as the pump doesn't seem to recognise its full & click off. I also usually fill up when i get to half a tank) Keyless entry on passenger door works intermittently & also key not recognised when I'm in the car. It went into Nissan on Friday to have the 2nd key coded ( it was missing on collection) for me to find out the car was immobilised. Nissan have fixed the car but understand I have zero confidence in it. They have suggested either a like for like swap ( a 2 yr old same spec with 18 delivery miles on it) or dissolve the sale were I would get my Nissan Leaf back & the cash I paid as the pulsar was £11,000. Any advice will be extremely helpful

I can understand your unhappiness with the Pulsar but I think you really have got a rogue vehicle. I've had my 66 plate from new and have had no real problems. I don't like the way that Stop/Start seems to work intermittently so tend to switch it off, and the auto wipers are a joke. Sometimes flying back and forth in the slightest of drizzles but steadfastly remaining still when the screen looks like a frosted bathroom window.
Other than that I am very happy with mine. Only you can decide whether you would be comfortable with another of the same after the problems you have experienced. I do wonder though why a car has sat around registered but unsold for 2 years, and how it has been stored in that time.

hi, youre unlucky, but the dealer sounds like he offering you a fair chance of redemption, so its up to you, given the choices I would take the car with 18 miles on it, but even if you take youre old car back you could part ex again for something else. clearly you don't want to keep it as you've lost confidence in it.
I also have a 65 diesel had it a year with no concerns. pleased with it.

Thank you both for your reply. I have decided to let the Pulsar go. Nissan are currently searching the group stock for an alternative I’ve asked about & will get back to me. I do feel it just wasn’t to be & cant fault the dealer for offering to help/refund. Here’s to a new reliable car 👍🏻
