My 15 plate Pulsar is booked in at Nissan for a full investigation due to excessive oil consumption.
24,500 - Full service
28,500 - 2 litres
30,500 - 1.5 litres
33,000 - 1.5 litres
35,000 - 2 litres
Total is 7 litres in 10,500 miles.
This can't be right and something is seriously wrong. There is no evidence of any leaks present.
I know there are a few reasons which can cause this including the turbine pushing oil through exhaust etc but no smoke from exhaust either.
Still in 3 year warranty until July 18.

I find my Pulsar beautiful to drive and very comfortable BUT - and this is a very big BUT ........

Beware of excessive oil consumption! I have had my pulsar for 2 and a half years and it eats oil at a dramatic rate. I have told the garage time and time again and it went back last week for another look. It broke down while with them and they couldn't start it again - which they blamed on a computer error and then they said it needed a new timing chain. Then they got the part and ran a diagnostic check. I then got a call to say I needed a new engine!

I now have car back complete with it's new engine and the keyless entry has packed up! I shall be back on the phone tomorrow.

I shall be glad to see the back of this car.

It shouldn't have happened, but in the long term a new engine after 2 1/2 years is a good result. Starting from scratch again is like having free driving for that period.

On 1 hand it will be like new again having a new engine fitted but the rest of the car will still be 2 and a half years old and future sell on will be difficult as I wouldn't buy a car at that age which had a new engine.
I am trading mine in at Nissan as soon as I get it back cut my losses.
I have complained to Nissan that I am not happy paying over £11,000 for the car etc but all I got back was they are replacing the engine under warranty as they are obliged to do.
If the wrong size pistons/piston rings were fitted the wrong way round, the car was obviously not fit for purpose from day 1

I don't think you'll get far with the claim of not being fit for purpose from Day1 when it's lasted 2 1/2 years, and the engine is being replaced.

No probably not, although because the problem was caused when the engine was manufactured and the problem is known, this would make it not fit for purpose from day 1 I reckon

It is the 1.2 DGI-T which has the problem
