Replacing the battery

Decided to replace the OEM battery after I came back from a week away to a car that wouldn't start. There's lots of posts about problems with the FAIMM battery on other forums covering Nissan models so I decided to swap it rather than risk getting stuck somewhere.

Has anyone undertaken this job themselves and got any tips or advice? I think the last time i changed a battery was on on Mk2 Micra (so nice and simple). I've heard about memory savers you can plug into the ODBII port but if its just a case of reconnecting my phone and selecting the radio presets i don;t mind doing it without.

Nothing to worry about. Just remove the two cables (negative first) and remove the holder bolt on the bottom of the battery then install the new one. What you'll lose is only the log, nothing important. I've a system with sat/nav, there's no radio code to be introduced after installing a new battery.

For reference, the Qashqai manual contains this procedure for the removal of the battery terminals:

1. Open hood
2. Turn ignition on
3. Turn ignition off while the driver side door is open
4. Exit the car and close the door
5. Wait at least three minutes (12 minutes for the 1.2 DIG-T). Do not operate the car in any way during this period.
6. Remove the battery terminals

Another thing: The automatic up function of the driver side window will be disabled when disconnecting the battery and has to be setup again like this:

1. Open driver side door to below its half point
2. Close it by pulling the window switch fully up and hold the switch all the way up for ~10 seconds.
3. Release switch
