New guy
Well well well, after my slight rattle when cold worsened, I booked her into nissan for the once over. Turns out I need a new timing chain kit fitted. 3 weeks before the warranty is up. 20000 on the clock. Lucky it was caught? Or something to worry about? Time will tell I suppose. Be interested to know what has failed exactly and why. In the meantime, I have a new Micra to cut about in. Nice wee car.

Yeah, the new micra looks like a smaller version of the pulsar to me.
Irrelivent of warranty, you still have the sales of goods act on your side... but being a 65 plate then you should be in the clear as it mostly affected 2014, very early 2015 models.
Yeah, I can only assume that it's a faulty part and that there is nothing bigger going on. It doesn't use oil, mpg is good, dives fine, it just had a noise. My last car developed a noise, which I assumed was the drive belt. When I saw the work involved in replacing it, I decided to change the cam belt, water pump etc too, even though it was 30k from needing it done. Turned out the noise was the cam belt pulley. Sealed bearing was dry. So sh** does and can happen.
I will ask some questions when I go in though. I want assurances that they have made sure no damage has been caused.

Update....
Timing chain kit fitted, remap done and a new clutch release bearing too. Feels like a different car. I did find the gearbox a tad difficult at times but it hadn't occurred to me that it could be clutch related. Just thought it was the way of it. Remap seems to have done away with the flat spot in 2nd and it seems to pull better at low revs. Assume intake pressure has been increased which may affect mpg but we'll see. And the rattle is gone. Five days with a loan car too, all free of charge. Kudos to the dealer. Given how near it is to the warranty being up, it would've been easy to fob me off. Really pleased with how it was handled.

Care to name the dealership? Sounds like they are worth recommending.StuGee wrote: ↑Wed Aug 15, 2018 4:34 pm Update....
