Hello oldman,
Thanks for updating us. It would be great if you can ask for a Nissan's recall number for the problem.
Oil Consumption
Hi all, I would to complement my previous post. Because of different opinions about oil classes and types which may be used for 1.2 Pulsar, I asked about it direct in Nissan's Central and they replied "Oil 5W40 A3/B4 specified in manual shall be used" and statement "no motor damage - no problem, oil consumption is normal effect and depends of driving habits". Since last post I filled motor with Oil 5W40 A3/B4 second time and I have 2 conclusions: 1. The fuel consumption is higher about 0,5-0,7l per 100km, because of higher oil's viscosity and in result greater friction, 2. The oil consumption is definitely lower, because the oil's exhaust and losses at turbocharger also are depend of higher oil's viscosity. So through past 10tkm! I didn't need to top up any additional oil although I like drive hard with higher rpm.
MousT_21,
I think this engine is hard on oil and that's why 5W-40 ACEA A3/B4 is recommended: it is a tappet engine, therefore higher HTHS viscosity is preferred. It has a turbo which runs host therefore xW-40 is used.
Ideally I think this engine also needs an oil with MB 229.5 spec to run through 20'000 km oil change interval.

I have covered 4,500 miles in my Pulsar and have just added 1.5 litres of oil
Bought 1.2 Tekna Xtronic 9 months ago after 6300 .miles noticed clicking king noise took into dealer who added 3.5lts of oil. I had 2 QashQai's before this and never had any issues with oil. Dealer asked/ me to monitor oil crossover next 1000miles then return for then to insert camera into engine to determine any loss.

Hello! The problem with the consumption of oil is quite high. In Romania, Nissan launched a recall operation for the 1.2 dig-t engines to solve the problem presented here: http://appnews.be/2016/10/12/renault-1- ... nsume-oil/ . My Pulsar received this software update in March 2017, but I honestly say that it has not decreased oil consumption and no other improvements I noticed. Finally, it's one, the radio now has DAB.
