Although to date I've only had minor niggles with the Pulsar, I definitely agree with your observations about Nissan in the pre-Renault era. I had 3 Primeras and wife is on her 2nd Micra and we've had very little trouble with any of them. My last Primera had about 130k on the clock and was still on the original exhaust and clutch after 9 years.
I haven't had any problem with excessive oil usage. It was getting towards the low marker when serviced but I'll keep a closer eye on this car than I've ever felt the need to on previous ones. Time will tell regarding any other problems. Mine's a 66 plate 1.2 N-Connecta.

According to the things I've read online the problems were with the 14 and 15 plate engines,Nissan admitted that some engines had wrong size pistons fitted resulting in varying degrees of oil loss.

I have been offered a very tempting pcp deal on a new Nissan Juke 1.6 auto I can get delivered in mid December and I can replace the Pulsar which needs a new engine.

My sources tell me there is a new model Juke due here in the new year. If you are happy with the current model and the deal on offer go for it. Otherwise might be worth holding on for a bit.
^^ never buy the 'first' of anything! Always give it at least 6 to 12 months to allow issues to be raised and fixed!
If a new engine is going to be fitted why replace it? Or is it a case that you simply don't trust the car any more? It's illogical, but I would probably feel that way too.Brownie4583 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2017 10:03 am I have been offered a very tempting pcp deal on a new Nissan Juke 1.6 auto I can get delivered in mid December and I can replace the Pulsar which needs a new engine.

I don't think I'd change it. After all, you're effectively getting another new car.
I'd be checking that the 3 year warranty on the engine starts on the day it's fitted though, not retrospectively.

from what is on internet, the 1.2 petrol is a Renault engine which is also used in other Nissan models, seems there have been issues with this engine.
