I’m starting to think the fuel economy readings are not accurate because it’s reading 10 liters sometimes, but my tank is not going down so fast.

I did a trip of approximately 50 miles yesterday (Bath to Gloucester) on a mixture of A roads and motorway. I tend to be a fairly smooth driver anyway and don't accelerate or brake hard if I can avoid it. According to the display at the end of the trip I averaged 58 mpg on the 1.2 petrol.
I was travelling at or near relevant speed limits most of the way, although there was one busy section of motorway for about 5 miles where we were doing about 55 mph.
