I have a 3 month old n-tec which I love.....but I have noticed that it does have a tendency to follow road imperfections, markings etc. The car is fitted with the 17 inch alloys as standard and I wondered if anybody else has encountered this?

Sounds similar to my problem see my post on the 18/08/ 2016.

18 inch wheels also have a adverse effect concrete surfaces.

tramlining tends to show more with low profile tyres as with the 18 inch wheels i have, the firmer the tyre sidewall the more you tend to feel the imperfections of road surfaces and in the UK at present the roads are shoddy, county councils are not spending enough on upkeeping roads ( different reasons but thats another issue ) .
We just have to live with it unless you down size wheels (means upsizing tyre size) or go for tyres with softer side walls.
In both instances the changes will tend to absorb the road surfaces imperfections better.
