Oil filter position - does this look right?

Hi all,

I've recently bought a Pulsar 1.2 2015 model.

Have been driving it without issue the past few weeks but then yesterday spotted oil on the drive.

I checked underneath and found the filter was loose so I have tightened it up a bit but have noticed that it doesn't appear to be sat flush with the crankcase as shown in the pic below.

There's about a 5mm gap. Is this normal?

I'd rather not have to drain the whole thing down just to readjust the filter but something doesn't seem quite right. I haven't torqued it up yet but I'm reluctant to tighten it much more without knowing it's in the right place first. Doesn't appear to be cross threaded.

Presumably this cannot be removed without draining the sump first?
