Hi guys.

So my car is in for a service on Thursday but it has just started flashing that the oil is low.....

I've looked and it needs 5w-30, now I have Shell Ultra Helix 5w-30 AG.

It says on Shell that I need 5w30 AF....

Now I need to be on the motorway in the morning , there does appear to bit a bit left as I've checked the dipstick.

Will it be safe for me to add a bit of the 5w-30 AF until it gets the service on Thursday?

Thanks

Just done a quick Google (they can't touch you for it) for AF & AG. Both stated as being for high performance engines. I can't see it doing any damage - certainly less damage than running with too little of any type of oil.

That will be fine! They will be changing the oil anyway when they service it.

That's probably the same for most main dealers, I can't imagine them keeping individual stock items for each model of car. I've been in garages where there's been a huge container of oil by the wall, with a tap on it.

This is the sad truth
Thats why i service my own car
I keep all receipts as proof
And only use nissan filters

You're doing the right thing Danielk, which is what I used to do, but I don't like getting the car on the ramps these days.
