Engine fault

We have a Nissan pulsar teckna, petrol, 2015 model and has driven just over 40K miles. The car has been looked after and serviced and was driving fine until now. A week ago it got broken down on the motorway, so we had to call RAC for the recovery, after running few diagnostics on the car we have been advised by the technician that compression in cylinder 2 is very low and therefore it needs an engine specialist to look in to this. I have rang nissan to check this fault and apprantly they are so busy that the earliest time slot I have got is on 6th of January, I felt this as very poor customer service as there is something wrong with the engine of our car which needs immidiate attention. While waiting for my Nissan's appointment, I took my car to the local garage for the second opinion, and their diagnostics matches with the RAC. Does anyone else had this problem with their car or any experience related to this as I am very confused, any idea if nissan would cover under engine warranty? How much would it cost to get this repair?My car is over 6 years old now. Any leads would be a great help.

I assume it's the 1.2 petrol. There were a lot of problems with the 1.2 engine from 2015 with excessive oil consumption and consequent engine damage. If you have had the car from new, and it's been serviced by Nissan, it would be worth having a conversation with them about the known engine problems and ask if they are at least prepared to contribute to the fix.

Hi Manpreet, I can say my story is exactly the same like yours apart from that my fault happened on Christmas Eve and my Nissan Pulsar is 2017 model. The car is with the dealer and they say there is fault with engine cylinders and possible fault with engine exhaust vaults and have quoted me nearly £3000 to fix. I have contacted Nissan for a goodwill and waiting to hear from them. Just wonder if you got anywhere ahead with your case and what was the outcome?

Also, if any one else had a similar experience, can they share their thoughts please?

Engine Cylinder and engine exhaust failures with car which is less than 5 years old, with about 53000 miles on clock, always serviced with dealer, one man well and carefully driven, how does this problem come around? I understand car is outside warranty, but I would imagine this type of problem is not expected from the engine of this age.

So far I have appealed to the goodwill of Nissan and waiting to hear from them.

Any advice to deal with such situation is welcome.
